Where can I take WSET® courses in Switzerland?

The Tasty Glass Education offers official WSET® qualifications in Wine, Spirits and Sake in Switzerland.

Our courses are currently available in Lausanne and Bonvillars, with new teaching locations in Geneva, Basel and Zurich coming soon.

Selected qualifications are also available online or in a hybrid format, allowing you to study WSET® wherever you are in Switzerland.

Can I study WSET® online?

Yes. The Tasty Glass Education offers selected WSET® qualifications online, as well as hybrid learning options combining live tuition with flexible self-study.

Online WSET® courses follow the same official syllabus and lead to the same internationally recognised qualification as classroom-based courses.

What is the WSET® Level 1 Award in Wines?

The WSET® Level 1 Award in Wines is the ideal introduction to wine.

The course includes:

• Approx. 10 wines tasted
• 6 hours of guided tuition
• No required home study
• A 45-minute multiple-choice examination

Ideal for beginners or anyone looking for a structured introduction to the world of wine.

What is the WSET® Level 2 Award in Wines?

The WSET® Level 2 Award in Wines is designed for those who want to deepen their wine knowledge through a structured and internationally recognised qualification.

The course includes:

• Approx. 40+ wines tasted
• 18 hours of guided tuition
• Around 14 hours of recommended home study
• A 60-minute multiple-choice examination

Ideal for enthusiastic wine lovers and professionals alike.

What is the WSET® Level 3 Award in Wines?

The WSET® Level 3 Award in Wines is an advanced qualification for those seeking a comprehensive understanding of the factors that influence the style, quality and price of wines. It develops advanced analytical tasting skills and provides a detailed understanding of grape growing, winemaking and the principal wines of the world.

The course includes:

• Approx. 60+ wines tasted
• Around 30 hours of guided tuition across five days
• Around 70 hours of recommended home study

The examination consists of:

• A 50-question multiple-choice examination
• Short written-answer questions
• A blind tasting examination of two wines

Ideal for wine professionals and committed enthusiasts preparing for more advanced study or looking to build confidence and credibility within the wine industry.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes. The Tasty Glass Education offers payment plans for selected courses.

Payment plans allow you to:

• Secure your place with an initial deposit
• Receive your official course handbook before the course begins
• Pay the remaining balance in instalments before the course starts

Who is WSET® for?

WSET® qualifications are designed for anyone who wants to understand wine with confidence, from aspiring sommeliers and hospitality professionals to collectors and enthusiastic wine lovers.

You’ll develop a deep understanding of wines, learn the internationally recognised WSET® Systematic Approach to Tasting® (SAT), and build the knowledge and confidence to talk about wine professionally or simply enjoy it on a whole new level.

Looking for something more informal? The Tasty Glass Education also offers wine tastings, masterclasses and themed experiences with no exams, just great wine and great learning.

How many students are in each course?

To ensure a high-quality learning experience, our courses are intentionally limited to small groups of 6 to 15 students.

This allows for:

• Individual attention from your educator
• Guided analytical tastings
• Open discussion

This creates a more engaging and personalised learning experience for every student.

Do I need prior wine knowledge?

Level 1: No prior wine knowledge is required.

Level 2: Some familiarity with wine is helpful but not essential.

Level 3: A solid foundation in wine knowledge is recommended.

As you progress through the WSET® levels, the amount of theory and independent study increases significantly.

Can I skip Level 1 and start at Level 2 or 3?

Yes. Many students begin their WSET® journey at Level 2, even if they have never completed Level 1. If you already have a basic understanding of wine, Level 2 is often the ideal starting point.

For WSET® Level 3, we recommend successful completion of the WSET® Level 2 Award in Wines or an equivalent level of knowledge, as the course is academically demanding and requires a solid foundation.

How long do the courses take?

WSET® Level 1 Award in Wines, Spirits and Sake — 1 day

WSET® Level 2 Award in Wines, Spirits and Sake — 2 days

WSET® Level 3 Award in Wines, Spirits and Sake — 5 days

Examinations are held at the end of each course.

What time do courses run?

Unless otherwise stated:

Level 1 & Level 2 : approximately 09:00–17:00

Level 3 : approximately 09:00–18:00

Exact schedules are confirmed upon enrolment.

Are course materials included?

Yes. Your official WSET® study handbook and course materials are included in the course fee and provided once your registration has been confirmed.

For WSET® Level 1 Online, all study materials are provided digitally through the online learning platform, so no printed workbook is required.

Can I purchase WSET® study materials separately?

Yes. Official WSET® study materials can be purchased separately.

If you later enrol on a WSET® course with The Tasty Glass Education, the cost of the study materials will be deducted from your course fee.

Can I sit an exam only or re-sit an exam?

Exam only

If you completed your studies with another WSET® Approved Programme Provider, you may transfer your examination to The Tasty Glass Education, subject to approval and the required documentation.

Re-sits

If you need to re-sit an examination, this can be arranged on a future course date, subject to availability and the applicable administrative fee.

Both exam-only and re-sit options require advance registration.

When will I receive my results?

Approximate processing times (subject to WSET®):

Level 3: 4–6 weeks after the examination

Level 1 & Level 2: 2–4 weeks after the examination
